Another phonebox hoped to bring community spirit in Tanworth

ANOTHER phone box is being adopted in Stratford district.

A scheme with BT allows communities to adopt a traditional red phone box as an asset for people to enjoy – for just £1.

The project comes after figures showed calls made from public telephones had fallen by around 90 per cent in the past decade.

As such, some 30 phoneboxes were up for grabs across the district earlier this year.

Several have been adopted so far for uses from an art gallery and a mini cafe to a home for a defibrillator.

And now Tanworth is the latest community in the district seeking to adopt its village centre phone box.

Before Tanworth Parish Council can adopt the kiosk, a consultation must take place and Stratford District Council is seeking views from the community.
