Anne Hathaway's Cottage needs your Heathrow vote

ANNE Hathaway’s Cottage and the Midlands needs your help.

Visit Britain is offering regions of Britain the chance to win £1m worth of advertising at Heathrow Airport and Shakespeare’s wife’s Shottery home has been chosen as the image to represent the Midlands.

Success would mean the Midlands being promoted as a destination to 13 million passengers who pass through Heathrow – one of the world’s busiest airports – each year.

The Midlands is up against three other regions – Northern Ireland represented by the Giant’s Causeway, the North East by Hadrian’s Wall, and the North West by the Lake District.

The winning region will have four advertisements highlighting its breadth and beauty shown across digital screens in all terminals at Heathrow from the end of August until the end of November.

The Midlands is currently lagging behind in the voting which closes at 23.59pm on Sunday (August 3).

A spokesperson for the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, which looks after Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, said: “Such valuable publicity would usually be beyond the means of the Midlands and south Warwickshire tourism organisations that we work with.

“We need help to win a competition so please do go and vote.”

To vote people need to ‘like’ the Anne Hathaway’s Cottage on the Heathrow Facebook page.

Supporters can also use Twitter to help spread the word and encourage more people to vote for Anne Hathaway’s Cottage using the hashtag #YourGreatBritain and this short link http://on.fb.me/1qH0Q4N.
