Amicantus on song with debut album

Stratford Editorial 18th Dec, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

A CHOIR from Stratford are in good voice for Christmas having just released their first album.

Amicantus’ debut The Christmas Album features traditional and modern festive songs from classics such as O Little Town of Bethlehem to Shakin’ Stevens hit Merry Christmas Everyone – with most arrangements by the choir’s Musical Director Maddy Evans.

The entire album was recorded in just one afternoon at Rhythm Studios near Bidford and has been released on the choir’s own label, Percy Street Recordings, named after the street in Stratford in which the 23-strong choir was formed back in 2012.

Choir member Stuart Kocan-Payne said: “We’re all exceptionally proud of what we’ve achieved and the album sounds fantastic.

“As we’re all friends, first and foremost, it is a real pleasure to be involved in something so good. With member numbers now at an optimum level for sound quality we’re truly excited for what the next 12 months brings.”

Amicantus – who regularly perform at events and venues in and around the Midlands – are already planning the follow-up and plan to return to the studio early in the new year to record a second album.

The CD is available from Paxton & Whitfield on Wood Street and The Stratford Butterfly Farm.
