Alcester salutes work of armed forces

Stratford Editorial 2nd Jul, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

THEY were saluting Britain’s armed forces in Alcester at the weekend.

Veterans, cadets and townspeople attended the Armed Forces Day flag raising ceremony and garden party last weekend.

The flag was raised by two army cadets from the Alcester detachment, and the service was conducted by Legion Deputy Chaplain Reverend Jim Symonds.

The ceremony commemorated the work of the armed forces, past, present and future.

Afterwards everyone gathered around the War Memorial to officially take part in the national campaign Salute Our Forces.

A garden party was then held in the grounds of The Old Rectory where tea and cake was served to help raise £310 for Royal British Legion funds.
