AN ADVENTURER from Shipston is encouraging people to enjoy the great outdoors.
Dave Cornthwaite has been selected to be an OS GetOutside champion for his own love of being outside and his adventures around the world.
Now based in London, Dave has been on the move for over ten years and makes a living from adventure and encouraging people to get outside with SayYesMore.
The enterprise is based on a philosophy of turning strangers into friends, breaking down fears and hurdles and enabling people of all ages to redesign their lives and jobs.
Dave is also preparing for two non-motorised journeys of over 1,000 miles as part of his Expedition1000 project this year.
He said: “There is nothing better for the health of our bodies and minds than getting out into nature with positive, like-minded folks.
“Although I love a big, 1,000 mile endurance challenge that’s not a practical solution for many, but the UK countryside has so much to offer and national parks are so accessible – adventures big and small are waiting for everyone.”
Dave is one of 30 champions, including TV presenter Ben Fogle.
Ben added: “There are some truly remarkable and inspirational people in this group and it is an honour and delight to be joining them for what I think is an important campaign, making the outdoors enjoyable, accessible and safe.
“I urge people to spend more time outside. Whether that’s walking to work, even jumping off the bus a few stops before you’d normally do so, or using your holidays to trek through the Highlands, do it.
“You’ll feel better for it. When I’m outside I smile more, I push myself more. It’s the one place that’s repeatedly proven to be good for both body and mind.”
