21 year-old man charged with murder

A 21 YEAR-OLD man has been charged with murder after a man was found stabbed in Hatton Park.

Police have named the victim as Edward Cornet, aged 55, who lived in Blackwell Lane on the estate near Warwick.

Paramedics were called to the address at around 11pm on Saturday night (May 2). They found Mr Cornet suffering from stab injuries. He was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire where he later died.

Jack Merrilees, of Linkway, Leamington, was charged with murder and remanded in custody on Tuesday night (May 5), after being questioned by detectives following his arrest shortly after Mr Cornet was found.




He was set to appear before magistrates in Leamington today (Wednesday) as The Observer went to press.
