"We would have taken this start", says Hyam in wake of QPR defeat

DEFENDER Dominic Hyam has reminded Sky Blues fans to look at the bigger picture in spite of Coventry City’s 2-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers last weekend – and vows that better things are yet to come.

High-flying City had three victories from four to their name prior to Saturday’s defeat at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, but were undone by goals from Lyndon Dykes and Yoann Barbet midway through the second half, in what proves the final match before the international break.

Reflecting on the outcome of play in West London, the 25-year-old said: “We definitely had the better of the chances but its just about taking them.

“In the grand scheme of things it’s been a good start and we’ve got to remember that.

“But it’s just the fine margins of this league and that’s how you get punished.

“Having nine points out of the first five games, we would have taken that at the start – we obviously want to improve on last year.

“You go out to win every game and if you win every game, you get promoted. I know it sounds simple, but we have a gameplan for every game and we’ve just got to see where it takes us.”

Coventry return to action in a home meeting with Middlesbrough on September 11 at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
