Warwickshire secure hat-trick of wins over Gloucestershire

Stratford Editorial 10th Jul, 2018   0

HAVING beaten Gloucestershire in both the Johns Trophy and Walker Cup, Warwickshire women made it a hat-trick of wins over that opposition with a 125-108 success in the Middle England League at Stoke BC.

Highest winning rink went to Pat Moore (Three Spires) with Lynne Innes, Linda Linney and Debbie Bloxham (all Stratford) who were not taking any prisoners and stormed to a mighty 34-6 win.

Jacqui Cook with Pat Gagg (both Lillington), Joy Cooke (Blossomfield) and Liz Westell (Welford) were also in winning form and, whilst the score was a lot closer throughout the game, seven shots on the 20th end sealed it for the home team and they finished 25-17.

Moira Parsons with Wendy Holloway (both Welford), Margaret Colvin (Snitterfield) and Trish Jarvis (Wolvey) were fairly evenly matched with their opponents at 8-8 on the 12th and 14-14 on the 19th end, but they were edged out 16-15.

Maureen Edwards (Rugby Thornfield) with Dawn Horne (RLS), Liz Wooding (Avenue Coventry) and Helen Harris (Stoke) also had a close game and lost 19-17.

Maureen Tims (Whitnash) with Aleen Shuttleworth (Stoke), Margaret Grosvenor and Di Thurlbeck (both Lillington) struggled to start and were 13-4 down at 13 ends when they started to pull back but, despite five shots on the 21st end, they were beaten 22-15.

Chris Cooke with Rosemarie Geden (both Southam), Liz Crispin (Wolvey) and Chris Roberts (Stoke) were also slow to start, trailing 10-2 by the fifth end, but they pulled back during the middle part of the game and it was only the last few ends which crept away from them again as they went down 28-18.
