THE cadet team representing Stratford-upon-Avon Table Tennis Club achieved promotion as champions on the national stage.
In the team’s first season in the Cadet National Table Tennis League, the squad topped the Division Three table to become champions.
Played over four weekends, the team achieved promotion from Division Five and Division Four earlier in the competition.
And Stratford continued to defy the odds to play the final two weekends in Division Three.
Stratford sat third in the table heading into the final weekend and needed to win by a nine-nil scoreline to lift the title.
However, Stratford’s young players rose to the challenge to claim a remarkable 9-0 victory against a previously unbeaten side.
Stratford clinched the title by a single point as the trio of Joshua Marston, Leo Burdett and Max Tanqueray helped bring home the glory.
And Marston also finished top of the league averages standings while Herbie Langstone, Charlie Shuker and Lewis Marston also featured in the squad, coached by Debs Barrow.
