STRATFORD-upon-Avon is preparing to host a celebration for World Table Tennis Day later this month with a town-wide festival.
The free event will run from 10am to 4pm on Thursday, April 23.
Simultaneous events will run at Stratford Leisure Centre and Meon Vale Leisure Centre.
Both locations will feature a packed programme of activities for all ages and abilities from beginners to experienced players.
Event organiser, Kevin Taylor said: “World Table Tennis Day is about far more than sport – it’s about bringing people together, improving wellbeing, and creating opportunities for everyone to get involved.
“Stratford-upon-Avon is leading the way in showing how a whole town can be connected through table tennis, and we’re incredibly excited to welcome the community to what promises to be a fantastic day.”
Anyone interested can turn up, pick up a bat and join in at open play tables.
The events also include a national and world championship-style fan zone with speed guns, target challenges and innovative games.
With this year’s event focused on health and wellbeing, a specialist Butterfly Therapy Table will offer a tailored table tennis experience for people living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and Parkinson’s.
Representatives from Parkinson’s UK and the Alzheimer’s Society will also be in attendance to provide information and support while showcasing how table tennis can benefit both physical and cognitive health.
In addition to the main venues, free bats and balls will be available at outdoor Ping tables across Stratford-upon-Avon, including locations such as Henley Street, Shottery Fields and Rowley Fields.
The day will also mark the relaunch of community tables at Hodgson’s Green and Alveston Manor Sports Club.
