THE Stratford-upon-Avon Table Tennis League returned as a the first round of matches took place in the new spring season.
In Division One, Bengeworth secured a statement 14-5 win against Stratford-upon-Avon Jets with the undefeated Richard Bishop the standout player.
The match of the night belonged to John Mackay and Phil Patrick who played out an intense five-set battle as the latter eventually came out on top.
Promoted side Stratford Paddles made the perfect start to the new season with a 12-9 win against stablemates Stratford Tigers as Nello Mauri remained flawless throughout.
And the Tigers then lost 13-5 against Shottery with the latter side’s Gary Stewart in unstoppable form.
In Division Two, Stratford MND and Willersey A played out a rare 9-9 draw as Robert Pitt remained unbeaten.
Elsewhere, Willersey B beat Ilmington 13-6 as Rick Burgess played two five-set matches.
And Henley won 11-8 against FISSC as Barry Quirke produced a standout performance to keep the victors top of the table.
In Division Three, Stratford Junior Boys A lost 15-1 against seasoned side Ashorne.
And Stratford Junior Boys B suffered a 15-3 defeat against rivals Littleton Panthers.
