THE town of Stratford-upon-Avon will be represented in the Midlands Veterans Table Tennis League for the first time.

Stratford-upon-Avon Table Tennis Club chair Kevin Taylor will captain the side in the league.

Stratford will face Derby, Birmingham, Hinckley and Nuneaton in Division Three in their debut season.

Taylor said: “It’s a fantastic milestone for Stratford table tennis.

“We’re proud to be growing the sport locally and giving players of all ages and abilities the chance to compete and enjoy the game.”

The action continued in the Stratford and District Table Tennis League across three divisions.

In Division One, Littleton Lynx beat reigning champions 15-3 Stratford Racketeers with the latter side under strength due to British League commitments for two of their players.

County player Craig Witherford won all of his matches alongside teammate John Mackay to help Littleton to a dominant victory.

And Shottery claimed a 14-5 win against JLM Hussars’ as Gary Stewart and Robert Poole impressed.

In Division Two, Henley-in-Arden beat Quinton 13-5 as Barry Quirke and Peter Quince inspired Henley to victory.

And Ilmington and Willersey shared the spoils in a thrilling 10–10 draw as Rick Burgess remained unbeaten for the former side.

Littleton Panthers won 12-9 against Stratford Edge Shots as Edward Waldron starred for the victors.

In Division Three, Stratford Junior Boys Red triumphed 15–1 against Junior Boys Blue as Leo Burnett and Charlie Shuker delivered dominant performances.
