STRATFORD-upon-Avon Table Tennis Club made their first-ever appearances in the Midlands League.

Stratford took on Derby in the club’s first-ever Midlands League fixture.

The side suffered a narrow 6-4 defeat as the team of Piotr Penczkowski, Adrian Jones and Stephen Foster took to the table.

However, Jones remained unbeaten throughout to win the player of the match award.

Stratford will play Hinckley in their next Midlands League fixture at Meon Vale on Saturday, November 16 at 1pm.

The Stratford-upon-Avon and District Table Tennis Association are also appealing for a sponsor to support the team in the Midlands League.

Sponsorship would help the team cover team shirts and venue costs with anyone interested invited to contact team captain Kevin Taylor at: [email protected]

Elsewhere, the Stratford-upon-Avon and District Table Tennis Association remains in full swing.

In Division One, JLM Hussars beat Stratford MND 12-7 in a closely-fought contest as the experience of Jim Clarke and Doug Payne proved decisive.

In Division Two, Quinton edged out Stratford Edge Shots 10-8 thanks to strong displays from Andrew Smith and Mark Walton.

And in Division Three, Ashorne claimed a 13-5 win against Stratford Slow Paddles as Martin Hamer and William Little produced consistent play.

New team Two Pings also continued their impressive debut campaign with a 15-5 victory against Junior Boys Red as Adam Wojniusz and Mati Watkins impressed.

And Two Pings maintained their fine form later in the week with an 11-6 success against Junior Boys Blue although Herbie Langstone remained unbeaten for the latter side.

Junior Boys Red also responded with a convincing 15-1 win against Generations United as Toby Ledgard and Charlie Shuker starred.
