A PAIR of swimmers from Stratford Sharks Swimming Club represented the club at the prestigious British Masters Championships.

Sharks swimmers Ali Skirvin and Neil Truscott competed against some of the best masters swimmers in the country at the London Aquatics Centre.

Skirvin placed ninth in the 50m backstroke, sixth in the 100m backstroke and fifth in both the 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle.

And Truscott finished ninth in the 50m backstroke and seventh in the 100m backstroke.

Elsewhere, the club also had swimmers in action at the Mercian League in Tamworth.

Swimmers from as young as the age of nine years-old competed in the second round of the Mercian League competition.

And Stratford finished in third place with a total of 182 points with the final showdown to take place on July 12 next month.

Stratford’s head coach, Kim Mortimer said: “We are incredibly proud of our swimmers this weekend.

“Ali and Neil showcased their determination against top athletes, while our team earned a strong third place in Tamworth.

“We’re excited to build on this momentum as we head into the final round of the league and future events.”
