A TRIO of Stratford Cycling Club juniors secured top six finishes at the sprint circuit at Curborough near Lichfield on Saturday.
In the U8 girls’ race, six-year-old Elise Storey was very impressive as she finished sixth and almost caught the fifth-placed rider.
Sam Abbott was the sole representative in the U12 boys’ race and he held on to the lead group throughout and at times set the pace, so his fifth place was very well deserved.
Three Stratford boys raced in the U14s event and thankfully each escaped being caught up in the nasty crash which left two riders unable to continue.
Oscar Martin timed his final sprint superbly to cross the line in sixth and Matthew Jordan, whose efforts earlier in the race took their toll, finished tenth, while Joshua Darlow maintained a decent pace throughout the erratic race and finished 20th.
