Stratford triathlon juniors and coach scoop top awards

Stratford Editorial 6th Nov, 2018   0

STRATFORD Triathlon Club juniors have enjoyed an outstanding 2018 season and this was reflected in the West Midlands Junior Race Series rankings.

The top three in each age group were presented with a trophy at the recent awards evening as several Stratford triathletes were recognised.

Martha Bullock came a brilliant third in the Tristar 1 age group. Juliette Marshall was hot on the heels of Martha, achieving fifth place in the same age group, with Millie Wharton in 14th place. Josh Harrison was 18th in the boys’ category.

In Tristar 2, Molly Bullock capped a successful season – including representing the West Midlands at the National Championships – with a third place on the podium.

Georgia Pridham finished eighth and younger sister Kate Pridham was tenth. Also in the Tristar 2 age group, Jake Deaner received the league’s second-placed trophy. In his junior year, Jake has enjoyed a strong season culminating in him also representing the West Midlands at the National Championships.

Also in this category, Theo Skirvin finished fifth and Oscar Fines-Allin ninth.

Ellie Deaner achieved second place on the podium in the Tristar 3 age group after a consistent season, during which she was the club’s third representative for the West Midlands at the National Championships.

Alongside Ellie in Tristar 3 was Charlotte Marshall with a well-deserved third place in the West Midlands League. Gigi Thomas finished in ninth place and Freya Fines-Allin tenth.

In the boys’ Tristar 3 age group, Cameron Thomas finished in seventh place, James Mucklow 14th and Cameron Black 18th.

In the youths age group, Stratford had two athletes on the podium. Hope Lawton finished the season with a stunning first place, backed up by Daisy Nicolle in third and Abbie Wootton in fifth. In the boys’ age group Ben Jones finished tenth.

As a result of this success across all age groups, Stratford Triathlon Club juniors received the award for the overall winners of the West Midlands Junior Series – a testament to the commitment of the coaches and volunteers.

To finish off the spectacular awards evening, each year a ‘West Midlands Participation Coach of the Year’ is honoured and this year the award went to Stratford’s junior head coach Richard Cox.

Following the awards evening, all the regions submitted their winners of this award to Triathlon England, who then named Richard as ‘National Participation Coach of the Year’ – a tremendous accolade for Stratford’s junior head coach who has done much to encourage many juniors into triathlon.

This host of awards for Stratford caps an outstanding season for the club and is brilliant recognition for the hard work of all the junior triathletes and their coaches. For club details, email [email protected].
