STRATFORD gymnasts Luis Smith and Laith Coathup won gold medals as the Worcestershire Gymnastics Academy squad claimed 13 medals at the West Midlands men’s artistic Regional Championships at the Gymnastics and Martial Arts Centre (GMAC) in Birmingham.

The club entered 18 gymnasts into the event – the fourth staging of the competition – which features a full six-piece competition on floor, pommel mushroom, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar.

The standard was very high and the Stratford gymnasts and their team-mates rose to the challenge.

The club won six gold medals through Coathup, Jacob Taylor-Ricketts, Lewis Beaver, Ward, Smith and Stan Murray, two silvers from Ben Harvey and Zak Myatt and five bronze medals thanks to Alfie Taylor, Ethan Mathias, Ashton Price, Bruno Osman-Hopes and Callum Braathen.

James Kirk, Noah Spencer and Cotton Hennessey finished in fourth place, Matti Morris was fifth and Jacob Thomas sixth in his first competition.
