Squash club bidding to build on promising times

Stratford Editorial 6th Jan, 2020   0

THERE have been many positive changes at Stratford Squash Club in 2019 and hopes are high for a successful new year.

A particular strength of the club is the junior section which is benefiting from the input of fantastic new head coach, ex-professional Ahmed Eissa.

This has helped in no small way to junior member Lucy Mayers earning the chance to play in the US Junior Open in Massachusetts.

Meanwhile, Stratford’s juniors finished the year off with presentations of the junior player of the year award to Poppy Spicer and players of the term accolades Ben Belcher (group one), Sammy Leaver (group two) and Olivier Hill (group three).

Thanks to head coach Eissa, Stratford Squash Club will be co-hosting a forthcoming national England Squash-sanctioned bronze tournament.

Junior players – both girls and boys from under 11 to under 19 – from around the country will be coming to take part in this event during Saturday and Sunday, January 11 and 12.

Thanks to sponsor Phil Sheepy at FSL Project, the club will be able to provide trophies to all ten categories and T-shirts for everyone.

Saturday morning coaching sessions start on January 18 and details are available from senior coach Dave Petty on 07971 162479 or by emailing [email protected].
