Scott: Ground upgrade saved Brakes from relegation

CHAIRMAN Jim Scott has revealed that Leamington have been spared relegation from National League North, thanks to generous backers who helped fund a £50,000 expense to help meet ground seating requirements.

In an update to fans, the Brakes chief painted a glowing picture of the work that has already been completed, and the developments that are to continue behind the scenes at the club over the summer, in preparation for the 2021/22 campaign.

Perhaps the most important news is that the updated ground grading requirements for Step Two of the non-League pyramid have been met, ensuring that Leamington will continue to ply their trade in the same division next season.

“Finances have been challenging this past year, but we are delighted to advise that individuals have come forward to finance the circa £50,000 cost in return for shares at the club,” Scott said.

“This was hugely appreciated, as the club would have been relegated had we not met the March 31 deadline for the installation of the additional 250 seats.”

Works have been ongoing on the new seated Sheepside stand at the recently-renamed Your Co-op Community Stadium in recent months, where 198 seats have been installed, whilst an additional 56 seats on the covered car park side of the ground have boosted the number of seats to 508 in total.

In addition, Leamington’s training pitch is set to undergo drainage works, with the Brakes board open to donations towards the remaining £7,000 cost.

Supporters that are open to contributing to the fund are asked to visit the club’s website for more information on where to send donations, or by clicking here.
