STRATFORD-upon-Avon RFC’s under-14s won the Warwickshire Cup after beating Broadstreet 25-24 in a thrilling final.
A strong first-half display saw Stratford take a commanding 17-point lead as both Harry MacManus and Arthur Summers crossed for tries.
And Archie Robertson kicked both conversions and a penalty to further stretch Stratford’s lead.
However, Broadstreet cut the deficit to 10 points at the break after crossing for a converted try shortly before half time.
Broadstreet picked up where they left off after the interval as two quickfire tries turned the game in their favour.
Robertson then kicked a penalty from in front of the posts as Stratford reclaimed the lead.
And Jake Ariss dotted down Stratford’s third try to give his side a six-point advantage with 10 minutes left to play.
Broadstreet scored a well-executed try to close the gap to a single point with five minutes remaining.
And Stratford had to soak up sustained pressure in the dying moments before eventually stripping the ball and kicking it into touch.
The final whistle sounded as Stratford claimed a dramatic victory to lift the Warwickshire Cup.
