STRATFORD-upon-Avon RFC suffered a 26-5 home defeat against unbeaten league leaders Moseley Oak.

Stratford lost at home for the first time this season as Dan Whitby scored the home side’s only try at Pearcecroft.

The result means Stratford sit ninth in the Regional 2 Midlands West table.

Moseley scored the game’s first try after a visiting player picked up a loose ball and made it close to the line before the visitors struck from a ruck.

And the away side crossed again soon after as sustained pressure on the Stratford line resulted in a try.

The visitors took a 12-point lead into the break before a converted try early in the second period took the game away from Stratford.

And Moseley crossed for their bonus point try following a five-metre scrum to put the game to bed.

However, the home side scored a consolation try when Whitby bumped off a tackle down the left channel and eased his way towards the posts.

Stratford are next in action against Malvern on Saturday, October 25 with kick-off at 3pm at Spring Lane.
