STRATFORD-upon-Avon RFC lost for the fourth game in a row following a 45-8 home defeat against Newent.
The home side’s only try came courtesy of Angus Wightman in the first half after Gwilym Davis kicked an early penalty at Pearcecroft.
And the result means Stratford sit ninth in the Regional 2 Midlands West table.
Stratford almost scored a try from one of their first attacks only for Tom Houlahan to spill the ball over the try line.
And Newent then struck at the other end as the visitors scored a converted try following a driving maul at a lineout.
However, the home side cut the deficit when Davis kicked a penalty as Stratford registered their first points of the match.
Newent responded with a penalty of their own before Wightman left multiple defenders in his wake to crash over the line with Davis unable to add the extras.
The visitors stretched their lead before the break after pouncing on a misplaced pass to kick the ball up the pitch and score a try.
Stratford lost scrum-half Jake Lowe to the sin-bin just three minutes into the second half for dissent although a high tackle on home centre Lewis Mellor went unpunished soon after.
Despite the home side defending well while down a man, Newent scored their third try upon Lowe’s return to the field before producing a bonus point score to take the game out of Stratford’s reach.
And Newent ran in two further tries to add some gloss to the scoreline either side of Lowe seeing red after he picked up a second yellow card.
Stratford are next in action against Malvern on Saturday, October 19 with kick-off at 3pm at Spring Lane.
