STRATFORD-upon-Avon RFC suffered a fourth straight defeat after losing 27-7 at home against Luctonians II.
The home side’s only try came courtesy of Tom Stanley at Pearcecroft as Luctonians touched down twice either side of the break.
And the result means Stratford sit 11th in the Regional 2 Midlands West table, six points above bottom side Old Halesonians.
The home side made the worst possible start as a knock-on from the kick-off gave Luctonians field position deep in Stratford territory.
A move off the back of a scrum took the visitors close to the line before the away side eventually crossed in the right corner for the game’s first try.
And Stratford found themselves 12 points behind after just eight minutes as Luctonians crossed for a second try from a quick tap penalty.
The home side responded with pressure at the other end as Stratford failed to capitalise on a scrum five metres from the Luctonians line.
Handling errors prevented Stratford from reducing the deficit before the break as the home side trailed by 12 points at the interval despite Luctonians losing a player to the sin-bin.
However, Stratford eventually made their pressure count in the second half as Stanley crashed through two defenders and onto the try line as Dan Whitby added the extras.
Luctonians saw a further two players sent to the sin-bin with Stratford unable to make the most of the extra man on both occasions.
The visitors extended their lead with a penalty and scored a third try soon after as Stratford failed to find touch with a clearing kick.
And Luctonians scored the game’s final try with the clock in the red as an offload close to the line allowed the visitors to secure a bonus point.
Stratford are next in action against Stow-on-the-Wold on Saturday, November 22 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Oddington Road.
