A JUNIOR player from Stratford-upon-Avon RFC won gold representing England at an international tournament.
Roxy Smith, who attends Stratford High School, represented England’s under-15 side in the Atlantic Youth Touch Cup.
The competition took place at the University of Limerick in Ireland.
And Smith helped England to victory against Wales in the under-15 girls final.
Smith said: “I feel very honoured and privileged to be selected for England, it has provided me the opportunity to compete internationally against countries like Wales and China.
“It was quite an experience and gave me the benefit of being able to learn more about the game.
“My highlights include being able to play with people who I have competed against in the past, this provided such a strong supportive bond within the squad, which helped us remain positive even when things got tough.
“The perseverance and commitment led us to victory and a gold medal.
“I look forward to hopefully being selected again in the future to enable me to participate and enjoy more experiences like this.”
Smith and Stratford teammate Bea Lloyd both earned selection for the England team with the latter unable to take part in the competition.
