STRATFORD-upon-Avon RFC returned to winning ways with a bonus point 32-24 victory against Malvern.
A pair of tries from Dan Whitby and further scores from Zak Amond and Charlie Powell sealed a second successive home win for Stratford at Pearcecroft.
The result means Stratford sit 11th in the Regional 2 Midlands West table.
The home side scored the game’s first try when Whitby finished under the posts and converted his own try after early replacement Armin Tofighi made it close to the line.
Malvern responded with a converted try of their own before Whitby kicked a penalty to nudge Stratford back into the lead.
However, the visitors scored a second try before the break to take a narrow two-point advantage into the break.
Stratford reclaimed the lead in the second half when Amond powered over and Whitby converted only for Malvern to score a third try to level the scores.
Another Whitby try put the home side ahead again before he kicked a penalty to stretch Stratford’s lead to eight points while Malvern lost a player to the sin-bin.
And Powell handed off a defender to score Stratford’s bonus point try from Whitby’s dummy and pass as the latter added the extras.
The visitors secured a bonus point of their own with a try under the posts at the death.
Stratford are next in action against Luctonians II on Saturday, February 28 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Mortimer Park.
