STRATFORD-upon-Avon RFC started the New Year with a 29-14 victory against Ludlow to end a run of 10 games without a win.
Tries from Charles Squires, Tom Stanley, Sam James, Charlie Powell and Andy Oliver sealed a bonus point win for the home side at Pearcecroft.
The result means Stratford sit 11th in the Regional 2 Midlands West table, seven points above bottom side Old Halesonians.
A concussion injury to a Ludlow player in the second ruck of the game saw play delayed for an hour while the player received treatment and was later taken to hospital.
Stratford scored the game’s first try when play resumed as Nathan Geekie executed a long pass over the top to debutant Squires who dotted down in the corner.
And the home side extended their lead when prop Stanley powered through the Ludlow defence to score and Dan Whitby converted.
The hosts crossed again before the break as Jake Lowe popped the ball up to James who placed the ball over the line with his free arm and Whitby added the extras.
Stratford struck again early in the second half when Powell stepped past a defender and beat two more players on his way to the line.
The home side lost try scorer James to the sin-bin soon after following a succession of team infringements.
And Stratford moved into a 29-point lead later in the second half as Oliver raced through to score close to the corner.
Ludlow finally troubled the scoreboard with a couple of converted tries which came either side of Stratford losing replacement Dom Wan to the sin-bin for hands in the ruck.
Stratford are next in action against Old Halesonians on Saturday, January 24 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Wassell Grove Lane.
