STRATFORD-upon-Avon RFC ended the year with a 22-22 draw away at Ludlow as the visitors claimed two points from the fixture.
A pair of tries from Andy Oliver and a further score Angus Wightman saw Stratford take a commanding lead only for Ludlow to produce a comeback at The Linney.
The result means Stratford sit eighth in the Regional 2 Midlands West table.
Ludlow scored the game’s first try following a period of pressure on the Stratford line after missing an initial penalty attempt.
The visitors reduced the deficit courtesy of a Dan Whitby penalty while Ludlow lost a player to the sin-bin for a tip tackle.
And the home side lost the sin-bin replacement to a yellow card soon after as Stratford made the most of the extra man to score their first try as Wightman dotted down.
The visitors crossed again later in the half as Oliver pounced on a loose ball to run in from 50-metres out as Whitby converted.
And Stratford increased their lead when Oliver scored his second try of the game from Jonathan Cook’s pass as Whitby again added the extras.
However, Ludlow capitalised on some miscommunication in the Stratford defence to score their second try before losing Sam James to the sin-bin.
And Stratford found themselves two players light when hooker Ben Cole received a yellow card.
Ludlow took advantage of the extra men to reduce the deficit to five points before levelling the scores with their fourth try only to miss the conversion.
Stratford are next in action against Moseley Oak on Saturday, January 4 at Pearcecroft.
