HARBURY RFC won the Counties 3 Midlands West (South) title with a 39-12 bonus point win against Worcester II on the final day of the season.

Harbury only needed to match the result of title rivals Stoke Old Boys to clinch the title and did so in style with a seven-try success to finish on 100 points.

Tries from Steve Alford, Harry Holland, Gaz Evans, Toby Whelan, Luke Winchester, Ciaran O’Connor and Will Higgins saw Harbury finish one point above Stoke in the table.

Alford scored the game’s first try when he burst through from a turnover to dot down under the posts before Holland collected an overthrow at a lineout and dived over to score.

And Harbury stretched their lead when Evans ran onto a pass at speed and powered through the Worcester line to send the visitors into the break with a 17-point lead.

Harbury scored their crucial bonus point try five minutes into the second half as Toby Whelan collected Rory Pond’s offload to take Harbury past the 1,000-point mark for the season.

And the away side all but sealed the points when Ricky Alford offloaded the ball to Winchester who cut in to dot down.

Harbury lost Holland to the sin bin for a no arms tackle as Worcester hit back with an unconverted try before the visitors executed a perfect set-piece to send O’Connor over for a try.

Worcester scored their second try with 10 minutes left to play but Harbury would have the final say as Higgins ghosted through to put the seal on a title-clinching 20th bonus point victory of the season.

The final whistle sounded to spark wild and jubilant celebrations on the touchline.
