RUGBY UNION - Claverdon RFC remain perfect after 74-0 rout of Kings Norton

CLAVERDON RFC made light work of Kings Norton as they romped to a 74-0 win to secure a ninth straight victory.

Chris Calcott and Sam Turrell both scored hat-tricks with Chris Johnson also touching down at Ossetts Hole Lane.

The result means Claverdon have won all nine of their league matches this season as they sit top of the Midlands 4 West (South) table.

And the Lions showed great strength from the off when Calcott converted his own try after just two minutes with a simple but effective backline attack.

Tries then came thick and fast with both Turrell and Calcott completing their hat-tricks – the former already taking his try-count to nine for this season.

Kings Norton’s weakness in defence also allowed Claverdon to score some audacious tries courtesy of their mobile forward pack.

Former colt player and man of the match Johnson ran one in from the halfway line as Claverdon also showed great determination not to concede a single point, with Ali Norman and Alex Grove standing out in defence.

Claverdon are next in action away at second place Old Wheatleyans on Saturday, December 18 in what is tipped to be the fixture of the season with kick-off at 2.15pm at Norman Place Road.
