CLAVERDON RFC continued their perfect season with a 41-8 win against Kings Norton to secure a 17th successive victory in the Midlands 4 West (South).

Sam Turrell crossed for two tries in the first half with Chris Calcott and Will Jackson also dotting down in what was the club’s first outing since late January after three successive home walkovers.

Claverdon sit top of the table, three points ahead of next weekend’s opponents Old Wheatleyans with a game in hand.

The away side were made to work for their first try when Turrell finished in the corner after James Kirby stole a lineout in the opposition 22.

And Turrell struck again later in the half when he sped over the line before converting his own try after a strong Claverdon scrum.

However, Kings Norton finished the half strongly and reduced the deficit with a penalty to cut Claverdon’s lead to nine points at the interval.

The visitors showed their class to take the game away from their opponents in the second period with Calcott scoring the pick of the tries when he side-stepped two defenders before touching down.

Claverdon’s top of the table clash with Old Wheatleyans takes place on Saturday, April 9 with kick-off at 3pm at Ossetts Hole Lane.
