CLAVERDON RFC secured back-to-back league wins for the first time this season with a thrilling 38-36 victory against Upton-on-Severn.
The club celebrated their first vice-presidents day of the season with a bonus point victory at Ossetts Hole Lane.
A hat-trick from George Evans and further tries from Stan Lawrence and Luke Sibley helped Claverdon secure a come-from-behind victory.
The result means Claverdon sit fifth in the Counties 2 Midlands West (East) table.
Upton scored the game’s first points after kicking a penalty from just inside the Claverdon half.
However, Lawrence then picked up a loose ball and shrugged off three defenders to score the game’s first try for the home side as Sibley added the extras.
The visitors kicked another penalty to reduce the deficit before Evans darted around the Upton defence to score a try under the posts.
However, Upton responded with a pair of quickfire tries to stun Claverdon and leave the home side trailing by nine points at the interval.
Claverdon closed the gap with a try after the break as Sibley’s show-and-go fooled the Upton defence before he converted his own try.
Upton kicked two penalties to stretch their lead before Evans sprinted to the line to score his second try of the game under the sticks.
And Evans completed his hat-trick later in the half after Hilton Garner-Jones broke the line to put Claverdon ahead.
Upton scored a late try to close the gap to two points but the home side held firm to take the points.
