ALCESTER RFC are busy preparing for their first season at level seven of the national structure following their promotion to the Counties 1 Midlands West (South) league last term.

The club will play Rugby Lions in a pre-season fixture in preparation for the new season on Saturday, August 12.

Alcester then make the trip to Old Leamingtonians on Saturday, September 2 for their Counties 1 Midlands West (South) season opener.

And Alcester then travel to last season’s promotion rivals Manor Park on Saturday, September 9 after the two teams played out a thrilling draw in the final game of the previous season which saw the latter side lift the title.

Alcester welcome Earlsdon to Kings Coughton in their first home game of the campaign on Saturday, September 16.

The club finish the season with a home game against opening day opponents Old Leamingtonians on Saturday, April 6.

Making up the rest of the league is Broadstreet II, Bromsgrove II, Droitwich, Evesham, Leamington, Ledbury, Luctonians II and Old Coventrians with plenty of local matches on offer.

The club’s annual general meeting saw the majority of the committee remain in their positions headed up by Stu Phillips who continues for a second campaign as chairman.

Mike and Mandy Walmsley both return to the committee as secretary and club safeguarding officer respectively.
