STRATFORD-upon-Avon Boat Club’s adaptive squad secured the best club trophy on their third visit to an international event in Turin, Italy.
In a combination team with Glasgow, the squad took home the trophy after two days of racing on the Po river.
The Turin Regatta, designed to be as inclusive as possible, included pararowing, mixed ability (able-bodied and impaired athletes racing together) and special Olympic style events.
Stratford’s rowers competed in the para and mixed ability events and won a host of medals throughout the weekend.
This included gold for Gillian Middleton in a mixed ability double race and gold for Ricky Clutterbuck in a similar boat.
Clutterbuck, competing in his first-ever regatta, took home four medals in total.
Stratford’s head adaptive coach, Mark Dewdney, said: “It’s a great event, the best bit being the smiles of those competing.
“Winning the trophy was a bonus, given the inexperience of the squad, this was an outstanding result.
“Stratford’s adaptive section is nearly 10-years-old and this kind of win reflects the knowledge we have gained over that period.
“It’s a nice way to end the year.”
Elsewhere, Stratford’s Paralympic pathway rower, Curtis Dickens, is taking part in a Great Britain camp after receiving an invite to GB trials which take place in early November.
The next major event for the rest of the adaptive squad is the British Indoor Rowing Championships in December.
