STRATFORD-upon-Avon Boat Club’s mixed masters’ double triumphed at Trafford’s Head of the Bridgewater race.
The Stratford pair of Rebecca England and Tom Doherty took the race win by 20 seconds, rowing together for the first time.
England and Doherty made a fast start as the only mixed boat in a men’s event.
A lively stroke rate allowed the pair to make water on the senior women’s crews in front of them and execute an overtake at the halfway point.
And the Stratford pair increased their power over the final kilometre straight to the finish to take the race win.
