A NOVICE crew and senior sculler from Stratford-upon-Avon Boat Club took to the water at the Worcester Regatta.
The novice coxed quad of Emily Burton, Charlotte Juxton, Helen Helliwell, Sarah Jane Walker, with Jen Cary at cox, raced in a loaned boat from hosts Worcester.
Stratford had a seven-second head start and lost by just three seconds against an all-male crew.
Senior sculler Jake Blatcher also took to the water for Stratford in Worcester.
Blatcher won his semi-final by a boat length against a sculler from Birmingham Rowing Club.
And he then beat a Worcester Rowing Club sculler in the final by two boat lengths as he led the race from start to finish.
Elsewhere, Stratford sent another novice crew to Upton who secured victory by five lengths in their debut race.
The action took place in torrential rain as Upton hosted a Beginner’s Regatta.
Stratford’s crew comprised Rochelle Jeffrey, Ricky Neault, Sophia Barnard and Paula Belcher, with Celia Price at cox, who only started the club’s learn to row course in April.
The crew won four out of six races to top their group as eight crews raced each other in two group in a round robin format.
