Poulson delighted to capture Brown to bolster FC Stratford ranks

MIDFIELDER Chris Brown will provide FC Stratford with an extra option as they face a growing backlog of fixtures.

Dave Poulson’s men will be looking to play only their third game since Christmas when they are due to head to Hereford side Bartestree for a Les James Challenge Cup second round tie on Saturday.

They have been frustrated by three postponements in a row after last weekend’s clash at Leamington Hibernian was called off but they now face having to cram two-thirds of the Midland League Division Three season into three months.

Brown will help ease the burden on the squad after signing on a dual registration from West Midlands League side Bustleholme.

Brown, who has scored 13 times for Bustleholme this season in the league, impressed when he played against FC Stratford and knocked them out of the Birmingham Vase on January 20.

But he is no stranger to Poulson, having played under him for Alcester Town.

“We are absolutely delighted that Chris has agreed to sign for us and, although his priority will be Bustleholme, we should get the benefit of him playing for us for a number of games when they don’t have a fixture,” said Poulson.

“Chris has played for me before when I was in charge at Alcester and at times he was unstoppable.

“We look forward to his involvement in what will be a very busy end to the season.”
