Popular triathlon returns to Alcester

THE AVENGER Triathlon makes a welcome return to Ragley Hall in Alcester on Sunday, June 22.

The charity event debuted last year and quickly established itself as one of the toughest middle distance triathlons on the market.

Triathlon is now one of the fastest growing sports in the UK – growing at a rate of ten per cent per year – and this growth seems set to continue as the sport becomes more mainstream.

The Avenger begins with a 1.9km swim around Ragley Boating Lake, followed by a 90km bike ride around an undulating course through the Warwickshire and Worcestershire countryside before finishing off with a tough 21km run around the trails and fields of the Ragley Estate.

The triathlon is a charity event with all profits being donated to local charity Kids Run Free – a charity which strives to ignite a passion for sport in children by providing them with free regular sporting opportunities.

Event organiser Joanna Welch said: “We are very excited to be back at Ragley Hall with The Avenger. The event was very well received last year and we just hope we can build on that success for this year.”

Entry is £110, although places are going fast. For more information on The Avenger visit www.raceways.eu and for more details about Kids Run Free visit www.kidsrunfree.co.uk.
