Mountain bikers wanted

Stratford Editorial 8th Nov, 2016   0

STRATFORD Cycling Club is to establish a mountain bike section and is welcoming active mountain bikers to join.

The club even has access to a great training area near Alcester so, if you are looking for a great club to join, now is the moment to do so and influence this development.

If you are interested in joining, visit the club website at www.stratfordcyclingclub.co.uk and make contact with the club secretary or development officer.

On the racing scene, 21 SCC riders competed in the cyclo-cross event at Halesowen.

Among the seniors, Ian Tinsley was eighth in the over 40s event, followed by Danny Murphy who was 29th in the 45+ category.

Carl Max Taylor was 22nd in the 50+ race and Nigel Jones 11th in the 55+ event.

At youth level, Reuben Child was again third in the under six race and in the under eights Ruben Phillips was fifth, followed by Finlay Child who was sixth and Tamsin Moss 11th and third girl home.

In the under 12 section, with Spencer Corder not racing, it was great to see the club so well represented with Lewis Tinsley back from holiday to finish fourth.

He was followed by Alex Burden in seventh, Joshua Barlow 18th, Joseph Gregg 22nd, Ellis Brown 24th and Harriet Tinsley 33rd but sixth in the girls’ section.

Guy West was 34th and Jessica Marcroft 38th.

David Hird was an excellent sixth in the tough under 16 section, followed by Connor Murphy in 41st.
