STRATFORD Triathlon Club scooped trophies galore at the West Midlands Junior Triathlon Series awards evening in Tamworth last week.

The awards ceremony celebrates the achievements of the junior triathletes after a hard fought season comprising eight races.

The winner of each race earns 10,000 points, with each place thereafter earning a reducing number of points depending on their finishing time in relation to the race winner.

The league table is then collated based on the best four results for each athlete over the season.

Stratford Tri’s Molly Bullock was crowned Midlands champion in the Tri Star 1 girls’ category with a stunning 39,765 points from her best four finishes, including three first placed finishes and one second placed finish.

Stratford were also represented by Georgia Pridham (12th place) and Kate Pridham (13th) who both enjoyed an excellent season.

Stratford celebrated another podium finish in the Tri Star 1 boys’ category in which Jake Deaner finished an excellent third with a points total of 38,872 for the season.

Fine performances from Theo Skirvin (seventh) and Oscar Fines-Allin (tenth) highlighted the growing depth within the Stratford squad.

In the Tri Star 2 girls’ category Ellie Deaner (eighth), Charlotte Marshall (12th), Freya Fines-Allin (19th) and Lucy Sainsbury (22nd) should all be proud of their achievements this season.

Joel Watson was the sole representative for the club in the Tri Star 2 boys’ category in which he finished in a terrific sixth place.

Abbie Wootton ended a fine season in an impressive second place in the Tri Star 3 girls’ category with a stunning 39,041 points from her best four results, including two victories.

In the Tri Star 3 boys’ category Stratford celebrated another champion as Ben Jones took the Midlands title with a fabulous 39,876 points for the season.

It was also time to celebrate in the team category in which Stratford finished a superb third overall as a result of the strong performances of all the triathletes competing for the club.

Head Coach Richard Cox said: “I am proud of the achievements of everyone who raced for the club and pleased to have four athletes finishing in the top three in their respective divisions as this was richly deserved following a hard season of racing.”

Club chairman Paul Hawkins also congratulated the entire junior triathlon section for putting Stratford well and truly on the map with their third placed team finish.
