Jess marches on in the Shakespeare 100

STRATFORD Cycling Club teenager Jess O’Riley continued her impressive season in the name of charity with a promising performance in the Shakespeare 100 event.

Jess is getting better and fitter as the year progresses and this latest display was a fine show of endurance as she completed the 100-mile event.

A club spokesman said: “She spent a lot of the event on her own and it was a tough ride with three major climbs and lots of smaller ones, with more than 2,000 metres of climbing.

“Jess still looked as fresh as a daisy at the finish and proved she is a tough cookie.”

Particularly impressive was the fact Jess completed the longest optional distance for this event.

Younger riders are recommended to complete the shortest 40-mile course but Jess, who is in her first year of racing, declined both this and the 100km option to ride 100 miles instead.
