AIRWAVES Racing driver Mat Jackson will be heading north east this weekend to the Croft Circuit near Darlington for rounds 13, 14 and 15 of the British Touring Car Championship – the conclusion of which will mark the halfway point of the 2014 season, writes Andy Parsons.
Henley-in-Arden’s Jackson will be keen to get back behind the wheel of his #6 Ford Focus ST and put the disappointment of the final race of the last meeting at Oulton Park three weeks ago well and truly behind him and again show just how much the car has moved on from where it was just 12 months ago.
He said: “We had a good run last time out at Oulton Park but unfortunately a run of bad luck meant the results didn’t really go our way. Hopefully we can take that performance and confidence into Croft this weekend and be back fighting at the front again.
“We’ve had some mega results here in the past and the Focus definitely has the pace needed now. We’re not carrying the weight that some of the front runners have, so with a bit of luck it will give us that little edge that’s needed. Another podium or two would be great, but the win doesn’t feel that far away either.”
With the touring cars being one of Croft’s main events of the season and allied to the fact that the track is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, a big crowd is expected and the circuit always seems to deliver in terms of both entertainment and action.
As usual there will also be the full range of support series races on show including the return of the Porsche GB Cup – back in action as part of the TOCA package following their recent excursion to Le Mans where they linked up with their French counterparts to be one of the support races for the famous 24-Hour event.
Once again the north east looks ready to deliver another non-stop, fun-filled, action-packed weekend.
