Jackson ready to rock

Stratford Editorial 3rd Sep, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

AIRWAVES Racing’s Mat Jackson will be back in action this weekend as rounds 22, 23 and 24 of the British Touring Car Championship take place at the Rockingham circuit in Northamptonshire, writes Andy Parsons.

Following on from a hugely successful weekend last time out north of the border at the Knockhill track in Scotland – where he achieved his first win of the 2014 season and more importantly the first win for the Motorbase-built and prepared Ford Focus ST – Jackson will be going all out to secure more podiums and hopefully more wins for the Airwaves team.

He said: “We’re fired up off the back of our win at Knockhill and looking forward to getting back out there again this weekend. We’ve had some great results this season, just consistently bagging the points, and that has left us in a great place to challenge for the Independents’ titles as the championship heads into the closing stages.

“It’s all down to sheer determination and hard work. The Airwaves boys have done a mega job and the car’s been faultless all year. The fast corners at Rockingham should suit the Focus chassis well and I fully expect us to be at the front challenging for podiums and more wins.”

The Rockingham track is also comparatively local for Henley-in-Arden’s Jackson and he will be hoping his army of fans will be out in force over the weekend to roar him and the Airwaves team on both in practice and qualifying on Saturday and then during the three races on Sunday.

As usual there will also be the full suite of support races on show and the nature of the Rockingham track always throws up plenty of thrills and spills. If you cannot make it to the track on race day then you can always catch the action as it happens with the six hours of live TV coverage on ITV4.
