Golfers reach 60 in fine style

FIVE ladies from The Warwickshire Golf Club organised a special event to celebrate their 60th birthdays this year and to raise funds for the lady captain’s nominated charity for 2014 – Riding for the Disabled.

Last Monday’s event proved a resounding success as 67 ladies competed in a four-ball AM/AM.

Afternoon tea was provided by the birthday girls – Angela, Kathy, Lindsey, Sarah and Sheila – and ladies who had been unable to play joined the competitors for tea.

Although a fun event, the golf was taken seriously and some excellent scores were posted. In first place were the lady captain’s team of Bev, Amani, Teresa and Chris.

Finishing a close second on countback were Shirley, Michelle, Sally and Bridget and in third place were Julia, Jackie, Jo and Michelle.

As well as the golf, there was a raffle with some very special prizes and an amazing £1,250 was raised on the day. A big thank you to all the ladies and their guests who gave so generously.
