STEPHEN Creed earned his fifth England cap following an outstanding performance in the US Senior Amateur Golf Championship in Tennessee.

Creed will represent England in the Home Internationals at Castlerock GC, Northern Ireland from September 15 to 19.

He finished 54th in the qualifying strokeplay stage playing on the Honors Course at the US Senior Amateur Golf Championship, out of the top 156 players in the world rankings.

Creed endured a nail-biting finish to secure one of the 64 matchplay places and won his first round match in style 5/3 against Kurt Reither (USA).

He faced long-hitting Dave Bunker from Canada in the last 32 and produced a valiant effort in defeat.

Creed is the first player from Stratford-on-Avon Golf Club to qualify for and compete in the US Senior Amateur Championship.

Closer to home, Stratford’s Jack Drury won the Midland Open Amateur Championship to add to his Warwickshire crown.

The 22-year-old triumphed at Shirley Golf Club in a 72-hole world ranking event played in difficult windy conditions.

Drury’s four-round total of 286 (72,71,72,71) saw him finish three shots ahead of Philipp Krone (Moseley GC) and Jensen Parfitt (Collingtree Park GC).

And Stratford-on-Avon Golf Club also hosted a Junior ShootOut at the club as Georgina Priestly won the nine-hole stableford competition with 21 points ahead of Thomas Dodsworth while Theo Clegg claimed the shoot-out crown following a putt off against Georgina.

The annual match between the club’s junior and ladies players also took place as the ladies won the Ferguson Brassie for the first time in a number of years.

All the matches were very close and a fun time was had by all as everyone celebrated the occasion by tucking into sandwiches and chips afterwards.
