STRATFORD Town saw their three-game unbeaten run come to an end following a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Leiston.
The Bards drew a blank at Victory Road as Jamar Loza’s goal on the stroke of half time proved decisive.
Despite the defeat, Stratford remain second in the Southern League Premier Central table, four points behind leaders Kettering Town who have two games in-hand.
The home side made a strong start as Jake Weaver made a fine early save to deny Loza inside the first few minutes.
At the other end, Owen James picked out Callum Ebanks only for the striker to see his effort bobble up as he went to shoot from the edge of the penalty area.
Leiston defender Eddie Jackson suffered a nasty injury later in the half after he collided with Lewis Ludford-Ison when competing for a header.
After receiving lengthy treatment on the pitch, Jackson was eventually stretchered off and taken to hospital for further checks.
Weaver again denied Loza as the half wore on before the latter broke the deadlock just before the break after beating three Stratford defenders and finding the net.
The Bards spurned a glorious chance to draw level after the break as Ebanks somehow managed to shoot over from close range.
Stratford are next in action against AFC Sudbury on Saturday, January 11 with kick-off at 3pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
