STRATFORD Town lost at home in the league for the first time since the opening day of the season after suffering a 3-2 defeat against Real Bedford.

Goals from Dan Lafferty and Max Lott twice kept the Bards in the contest at the Arden Garages Stadium.

However, strikes from Elliot Simmons, Conor Tee and Josh Allen condemned Stratford to just their second home league defeat of the campaign.

The result means the Bards sit 12th in the Southern League Premier Central table.

Bedford broke the deadlock on 13 minutes when Simmons stunned Jake Weaver in the Bards goal with a shot into the top corner from distance.

And the visitors doubled their lead on 37 minutes as Tee cut in from the left and curled a shot into the net from Drew Richardson’s looping through ball.

Stratford halved the deficit five minutes after the break when Lafferty raced through and fired a shot across Craig King in the Bedford net.

However, Bedford restored their two-goal cushion six minutes from time as Allen produced a calm finish into the corner.

The Bards responded in injury time when Aston Villa loanee Lott found the net on debut but the goal proved too little too late for the home side.

Stratford are next in action against Needham Market on Tuesday, November 4 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
