STRATFORD Town secured a third successive victory following an impressive 2-0 win against Stamford despite finishing the game with 10-men.

A quickfire double from Dan Lafferty and Will Bapaga put the Bards in command before Callum Ebanks saw red after the break at the Zeeco Stadium.

The result means managerless Stratford sit fourth in the Southern League Premier Central table, six points behind leaders Kettering Town who have a game in-hand.

Stratford broke the deadlock on 16 minutes when Lafferty received Tom Solanke’s pass and held off his marker before finishing from just inside the penalty area.

And the Bards doubled their lead four minutes later as Solanke found Bapaga who glided past two defenders and wrong-footed Thomas Jackson in the Stamford goal.

The home side improved after the break although the Bards stood firm to keep Stamford at bay.

However, the visitors lost Ebanks to a red card on the hour mark after he received a second yellow card for a foul on the Stamford full back.

Despite the home side piling on the pressure, the Bards recorded a third consecutive clean sheet as Jake Weaver produced a superb fingertip save to deny Joe Burgess.

Stratford are next in action against Bromsgrove Sporting on Saturday, December 21 with kick-off at 3pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
