STRATFORD Town saw their midweek fixture abandoned following the sudden death of Halesowen Town club president Colin Brookes.
Brookes died midway through the Southern League Premier Central fixture at the Arden Garages Stadium.
The Halesowen president fell ill during the match and tragically passed away after receiving medical attention.
A Halesowen club statement read: “It is with real sadness that we have to announce the passing of our president Colin Brookes.
“Everyone who knew him would know that if he had chosen a way to go, it would have been watching his beloved Yeltz and a quick passing.
“Our thoughts are with Karen and the family and all their friends at this time.”
A Stratford Town club statement read: “It is with immense sadness that we express our condolences following the passing of Halesowen Town president, Colin Brookes.
“We were devastated to witness his sudden illness at the match and we are hugely grateful for the efforts of everyone who provided immediate care.
“As a football community, we have lost a true stalwart. To pass away watching his beloved Yeltz reflects a lifelong passion that those who knew him will understand.
“All of our thoughts are with Karen, his family, and the entire Halesowen Town community.”
