OWEN James scored the only goal as Stratford Town claimed a narrow 1-0 home win against AFC Sudbury.
James struck just past the half-hour mark at the Arden Garages Stadium as the Bards returned to winning ways in the league.
The result means Stratford sit 14th in the Southern League Premier Central table, three points clear of the relegation zone.
Stratford made a blistering start and created three chances inside the first five minutes of the match.
The Bards peppered the Sudbury goal early on as Marcus Garnham held Jack Storer’s spectacular effort.
And a retreating Sudbury defender then cleared Storer’s lobbed effort with the goalkeeper beaten.
The home side went close again soon after as the visitors hacked clear Josh Roney’s header at a corner.
And Stratford broke the deadlock on 31 minutes when James finished from close range after Henry Landers played in Harry Reilly down the right.
The Bards almost doubled their lead after the break as Storer saw his effort bounce off the post and into the goalkeeper’s arms.
And the home side had further chances to seal the points late on when Reilly and Cyrus Bruce went close as the Bards comfortably saw out the remaining minutes.
Stratford are next in action against Worcester City on Tuesday, October 14 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
