STRATFORD Town let a two-goal slip in a 2-2 draw against Quorn as the club’s three-game winning run came to an end.

The Bards took a two-goal lead courtesy of strikes from Kory Roberts and Owen James either side of half time at the end of the Arden Garages Stadium.

However, Deen Master quickly halved the deficit before Gustavo Sanches scored a late equaliser for the visitors.

The result means Stratford sit 11th in the Southern League Premier Central table.

Stratford broke the deadlock on 14 minutes when Roberts produced a stunning overhead kick to put the Bards ahead after Fin Brennan delivered a free-kick into the box.

However, the Bards could not double their lead before the break as Henry Landers went close while Charlie Wragg caused the Quorn defence plenty of problems.

Despite a strong start to the second period from Quorn, Stratford struck again on 64 minutes when James powered a header into the net from another dangerous Brennan cross.

Quorn halved the deficit virtually straight from the restart as Master tapped in from close range to keep the visitors in the contest.

And the away side drew level with just four minutes left to play when substitute Sanches produced a tidy finish.

The Bards pushed for a winner in the remaining minutes as Dan Lafferty and Brennan both went close but could not extend the home side’s winning run.

Stratford are next in action against Bishop’s Stortford on Friday, April 3 with kick-off at 3pm at Woodside Park.
